MATERNITY INSURANCE
And Other Fables!
As a result of the Affordable Care Act, all compliant health insurance plans effective January 1, 2014 and thereafter must include maternity coverage. The coverage is subject to the terms of the policy, so if you are pregnant or may be so in the near future you'll want to make sure that the plan you pick is the best in your situation. Call us for assistance.
The following information is leftover from years 2013 and prior, to be used with those that have earlier (Grandfathered) plans or for reference.
Maternity Insurance - is not "insurance". It is a "benefit". There is a BIG difference.
**Because of the new Health Care Reform Act we've had to completely change this page.**
The good news is the page is shorter.
The bad news is your options are now very limited.
ALL compliant health insurance policies sold in the U.S. now must include maternity coverage. That includes policies sold to males and to women well past child bearing age.
However, not all policies are the same. You must carefully consider and balance the premium, the deductible, the co-insurance, the maternity co-pay (if applicable), and the provider network. To make it more difficult plans with a higher premium does not always have better benefits.
The good news is we can help with an analysis of the maternity charges with each policy. Just give us the name of your doctor and in 30 to 60 minutes we will find out which plan will be the cheapest way to have a baby.
